Whilst branding started out as a fool-proof way for farmers to identify their livestock, today branding is a very powerful way of identifying companies, products and services.
Branding irons have been replaced by computers, and the objective of creating a brand identity has moved on from being used purely for identification purposes to reinforcing an organisation's promise of performance. Brands need to be clearly identifiable and recognisable, but now a logo can be used to communicate much more than identifying a product or service.
